Original 1949 poster for the brand Monsavon by Savignac.

"I was born from the udders of the Monsavon cow!" said poster artist Raymond Savignac. This original 1949 poster for the Monsavon brand is undoubtedly one of its most famous and most sought-after by collectors.

Raymond Savignac is known for his visual gags that immediately stop the attention. Conceived as graphic slogans, his posters have the humour and spontaneity of childhood. Under an apparent lightness, the simplicity of the line is part of a real plastic approach. He wanted his posters to have "the beauty of the obvious" and thus created concepts, humorous scenes where the character arouses the complicity of the passer-by.

The simplicity of his apparently easy drawing is in fact the fruit of a long meditation that successively eliminates everything that is not essential to its understanding.
