Original American poster designed by Bill Garland for the Australian science fiction film Mad Max, directed by George Miller in 1979 with Mel Gibson

Australian science fiction film directed in 1979 by George Miller, Mad Max is inspired by the American road movie Vanishing Point by Richard Sarafian (1971). The dystopian anticipation feature film that reveals Mel Gibson to the general public and holds the record for the most profitable low-budget film in cinema for 20 years.

This port-modern western takes place in a post-apocalyptic environment where a merciless war opposes outlaw bikers and Interceptor police officers.

If the sa composition is relatively close to that of other posters such as the Japanese or Italian, the American version is the only one to benefit from a unique design.

Bill Garland, its creator, former creative agency manager and award-winning commercial illustrator, has been responsible for many projects for Hollywood studios. He designed the posters for Batman (which will win the prestigious "Key Art" prize), Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, Brazil...

Note: the poster that came out of the film in 1983 is identical to the one from 1979 (same plates, same NSS) but bears the CGIU logo
