Rare original German poster of the film 20,000 Leagues under the seaThis is the result of the first broadcast in the GDR in 1969.
American adventure film directed by Richard Fleischer for Walt Disney Productions (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea) was released in 1954. With Kirk Douglas, James Mason or Peter Lorre, it is an adaptation of the famous eponymous novel by Jules Verne.

This film is the first big production of the Disney studios made in real shooting. At the time, it was the most expensive film in the history of cinema with a budget of five million dollars. It was awarded the Oscar for best art direction and the Oscar for best visual effects in 1955.

This incredible poster came out of the East German broadcast in 1969. It shows the submarine Nautilus in prey to a mysterious sea monster similar to a giant squid. The depths of the ocean are depicted in an abstract and mesmerizing way, a far cry from the spectacular posters usually made for this film.
