The Barefoot Countess (The Barefoot Contessa) is a 1954 Italian-American film directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, starring Ava Gardner and Humphrey Bogart. The original French poster is designed by Cerutti.

Filmmaker Harry Dawes attends the funeral of Maria Vargas, a great movie star. He remembers Maria's meeting in a cabaret, her debut in the cinema, her rise, her solitude, her meeting with Count Torlato-Favrini, their marriage, her secret... Joseph Mankiewicz considers that the film is a "great film" The Barefoot Countess as "a fairy tale that fits today's life, a bitter version of Cinderella". This is his first film as an independent producer, free from the tutelage of the big American studios.

The original poster of this classic, which is marked by fatality and tragedy, is one of Henri Cerutti's major works. No less than 164 of his works are classified in the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
