Original Belgian poster for Casablancaan American film directed by Michael Curtiz, released in 1942.

Rick Blaine is a bitter and cynical American, an expatriate in the Moroccan city of Casablanca, where he is the owner of the Rick's American Coffee. This nightclub the upmarket hotel attracts a clientele of French and Nazi officials, refugees and thieves.

∗ 3 Oscars in 1944 - Best Film, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay
∗ 3rd largest American film according to the American Film Institute
∗ 4th place in the top 50 biggest movie heroes for Rick Blance
∗ 2nd place on the podium of the greatest songs of American cinema for As Times Goes By
∗ 6 replicas ranked among the most important in American cinema

How can we not consider Michael Curtis' film as one of the monuments of the history of cinema? The screenplay by the Epstein brothers and the original music by the avant-gardist Max Steiner make up a film emblematic of the Hollywood Golden Age (with its stars, its mythical replicas, its universe), of classical romance, of the black register and of patriotic work.

Classified as anti-Nazi propaganda by the authorities of the Third Reich, Casablanca doesn't come out in Europe until after the war. The original Belgian poster takes up the iconography of other countries by offering a complicit portrait of the iconic couple formed on the screen by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.
