Original poster designed by Marino for the movie Cagliostro, made in 1929 by Richard Oswald.

Cagliostro is a 1929 Franco-German silent dramatic film directed by Richard Oswald. Together with Hans Stüwe, Renée Héribel and Alfred Abel, it depicts the life of the 18th century Italian occultist Alessandro Cagliostro. Based on a novel by Johannes von Guenther, the film has the peculiarity of depicting the character with more sympathy than most other works.

Film lost, partially found, reassembled and re-mounted, CagliostroA major international production, it features bizarre adventurers, charlatans, megalomaniacal half-crazy people with extraordinary lives. Against the backdrop of the famous story of Marie-Antoinette's necklace, we witness a strange mixture of historical respect and wacky inventions.

The film's original poster, resolutely Art Deco, perfectly retranscribes the hypnotic, spectacular and fantastical universe of the adventures of the Count of Cagliostro.
