Original Italian poster for the Venice Biennale of 1907, the seventh International Exhibition of Arts, designed by Augusto Sezanne.

Painter, architect, ceramist, draftsman, lithographer and illustrator, the Italian Augusto Sezanne is a complete artist. Born in Florence, he trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna where he will officiate throughout the beginning of his career. Specialized in Art Nouveau style decorations, his works are also related to the naturalist style.

Sezanne exhibited regularly at the Venice Biennale between 1895 and 1932. He was one of the event's favourite illustrators from 1897 onwards, drawing the posters for numerous editions: 1895 to 1903, 1907, 1909/1910, 1912 and 1914, always in an Art Nouveau style. In 19012, a room was even named after him.

The 1907 poster, the seventh edition of the International Art Exhibition held in Venice, depicts a port scene: ships from all over the world flock to attend one of the most important artistic events in the history of Art.
