Original poster on the French Riviera by the French painter Jules Cavaillès for the French National Railway Company in 1953.

This original poster edited by the French government and the Société Nationale de Chemins de Fer to develop tourism on the Côte d'Azur is the work of French artist Jules Cavaillès. Painter and lithographer, he belongs to the movement known as "Poetic Reality".

The poster, which gives the impression of a painting, shows a Mediterranean seaport filled with sailboats and small boats. Representative of Cavaillès' style, the image is bathed in impressionistic light, reminiscent of Bonnard's work. Derived from a softened fauvism, his work is marked by bright and clear tones expressing the search for joie de vivre common to painters of the inter-war period.

Jules Cavaillès has produced a series of three posters for the SNCF, all translated into an English version.
