Original tourism poster of the shipping company Fraissinet & Cyprien Fabre, promoting trips to the West Coast of Africa, designed by Astier around 1950.

"Relax, tourism, gastronomy": these arguments put forward by the Compagnie de Navigation are clearly visible on this poster with its resolutely stylish design fifties drawn by Astier. The elegant traveller enjoys her cruise, with the luxury liner's restaurant menu in hand, in a particularly inventive and original setting. Indeed, the armchair seems to float on the sea, but we guess that it is actually on the boat and that we participate in the passenger's daydream, surprised in the middle of the cruise farniente.

For more than 150 years, the Compagnie Fraissinet and Cyprien Fabre has played a major role in trade and immigration flows in the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, West Africa and Latin America.
