Original poster created by Villemot in 1954, promoting winter sports in France for the General Direction of Tourism.

If he is known above all for his advertising work for Orangina, Bally or Perrier, which has largely entered the collective memory, Bernard Villemot also responds to orders from affiches for travel and tourism. From the first half of the 1950s to the 1970s, he designed visuals for major national transport companies such as the SNCF, Air France and the Ministry of Tourism.

Villemot is an artist who defines himself first and foremost by his love of colour. Influenced by the great painters of his time (notably Henri Matisse), his style of "lyricism" is often qualifie décoratif . His work is remarkable for its sobriety, legibility, elegance and humour. At a time when photography reigns, Paul Colin's pupil defends the tradition of the painted poster while bringing a great modernity to it.

Firm composition, simplified graphic line, flat areas of bright colours, vigorous lines, such is the recipe of Bernard Villemot's creations, once again perfectly applied to this poster intended for the Directorate General of Tourism.
